Our Story

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all”

I grew up with an insatiable desire to create and design. While I immersed myself heavily in the arts to feed this trait, the world pushed me towards science, technology, and engineering. I went to The University of Texas and obtained my degree in biomedical engineering, and from there I went on to product development engineering. I was an engineer designing the newest orthopedic implants for shoulder replacements. While I learned an incredible amount efficient designing, complex surgical instrumentation, and product development as a whole, I wanted to exercise creativity, and learn more about financial analysis/business development.

From the engineering world, I ventured to financial planning, and I developed those entrepreneurial and financial skills. But it still wasn’t right. I felt like I wasn’t being true to myself, my desires, my skills. I wasn’t happy trying to pretend like I was something that I deep down wasn’t. I wanted to take the risk to abandon what I had been educated and trained for, to abandon a stable salary, to abandon the idea that my job title had to look a certain way to feel good about myself. all of this pushed me to create Outer Woods.

Outer woods is A venture where I can be anything that I want. a venture that I can turn into anything that I want. A venture that I can decide the ideals and the feeling behind. I am excited every day to wake up and talk with wonderful people about their dreams and ideas. I’m excited to wake up and design beautiful and efficiently engineered pieces. I’m excited to grow this business organically with marketing, and data, and good relationships. Believe it or not, I am excited to wake up and struggle and be pushed. The struggle is good. The grinding, the head scratching, the mistakes, the fear, the unknown, it’s all good. It makes you grow, it makes you human, it makes the highs higher.

I know very little about life and about the world, but here is how I feel right now, and here is the backbone and sentiment of outer woods: Life is short, and I truly believe that the regrets you will have years from now will be more on the things you didn’t do rather than the things that you did do. Take risks. Make mistakes. Live an interesting story. Outer woods will strive to do this every day no matter where we go or what we end up doing. We feel that you should do the same in whatever capacity speaks to you.
