Tables
Crush the table game. Many things in the world today are fake, cheap, fast, inauthentic. But not you. You want a real slab of wood, something that instantly connects you to the tree that it came from, and that is exactly what we have to offer. Heavy. Robust. Mighty. Take a look, we promise you won’t regret it.

-Root Ball Coffee Table -3ft x 2ft -$600 -Mesquite -Most slabs come from the trunk or branches of trees, but not all of them. Underground, there is still solid wood: the root system. Typical lumber never comes from this section since there are many knots, imperfections, cracks, and internal stress. All perfect opportunities for a wildly interesting piece.

-Mesquite River Table - 10ft x 4ft - $7000 - Mesquite is not a large and straight tree. The are often crooked and cranky, gnarled and knotted. To find a book matched pair of slabs and make a table this size from mesquite is a rarity. The grain and color of this wood is magnificent and the black river is the perfect accent for such a deep wood.

-Maple Coffee Table -54in x 26in -$979 -Maple Wood -This coffee table was made from a massive maple live edge slab. The grain swirled back on itself in the core of the wood, and the pattern was too interesting to not accentuate. The grain was hand chiseled out, then filled with a silver resin to create a mesmerizing top surface.

-Myrtle River Table -5ft x 2.5ft -$900 -Myrtle Wood -Can you imagine what this tree would look like? In all honesty it’s difficult for us too. All we know is that she would have been lumpy and bumpy. While the bark would have looked rough on the outside, that means that the inside looks like what you see here. Figuring, knots, unreplicable grain patterns, and a live edge that you can’t look away from. The golden wood and the royal blue resin would elevate any space.

-Walnut Office Desk -7ft x 3ft -$3400 -Walnut -You can’t say enough about the beauty of walnut live edge slabs. Their natural color is the color that the Ikeas of the world try to make with their fake pieces. Their grain is smooth with stately character. There are typically one or two features of each slab that make it unique. This piece aimed to show all of those characteristics, but not take attention away from them.

-Monkey Pod Coffee Table -4ft x 2.5ft -$1500 -Monkey Pod/Guanacaste -I wouldn’t fault you for thinking this table seems very different from anything you’ve seen before. It is. This slab was sustainably sourced from the jungles of Costa Rica. It’s jungle wood, and you can feel something wild about it. Not many trees are big enough to make this size table from a circular cross section, but they grow them differently down there. This slab also didn’t sacrifice one bit of color or character for that size either.

-Waterfall Bar Top Table -7ft x 1.5ft -$2900 -Monkey Pod/Guanacaste -Waterfalls are not just for water. With the right tools, knowhow, and experience, we can make wood look as if it is spilling over the edge of itself. Notice how the grain seamlessly falls off the table, how the live edge perfectly flows from the top to the leg. Have your furniture being the talk of the town at your next soiree.

-Mesquite Entryway Table -4ft x 1.5ft -$400 -Mesquite -Mesquite is a wiley tree. Found in some very harsh environments in the Southern United States, it typically is short, crooked, and squatty to survive. It is somewhat of a rarity to stumble upon a slab as long and straight as this piece. Once you open this geode of a tree, you are face to face with a deep and rich brown that compliments many interior design schemes.

-Pecan End Table -2ft x 2ft -$500 -Pecan/Hickory -It is easy to get peacefully lost in the unique grain pattern of pecan wood. Rich brown core wood, a tasteful complement of lighter wood near the edges. The tree that produced this slab forked into two branches for our piece. That causes massive internal stress in the wood which produces tiger-like stripes in the fork (called figuring), and it presented a wonderful opportunity for rich blue resin. This piece exudes luxury.

-Pecan Side Table -1.5ft x 1.5ft -$300 -Pecan/Hickory -This pecan tree has been through decades of hardships finally succumbing to the Texas Winter Freeze of 2021. Like humans, the hardships can turn to beauty and fascinating character. We’ve never seen grain patterns like this in slabs, and we are willing to bet you haven’t either. Our favorite description is that this slab looks like a treasure map.

-Pin Oak Console Table -4ft x 1.5ft -$350 -Pin Oak -This Pin Oak Table has brilliant examples of a wood pattern called spalting. A phenomenon where colonies of fungi grow and create lines and borders with untouched wood. The result is a geometric and stark grain pattern that is captivating to the eye. A double edged sword if the fungi grows out of control in the tree, it will start to rot the wood. Outer Woods is an expert in capturing the beauty of this grain pattern without compromising the integrity of the wood.

-Walnut Library Table -4ft x 1.5ft -$500 -Walnut -Walnut makes for perfect long and straight tables. The grain and the trees grow straight, the wood is strong, and there is an elegant band of lighter wood (sap wood) near the live edges. While extremely pleasant to admire once complete, walnut is also extremely pleasant to work with due to its slightly sweet fragrance.

-Pecan Patio Furniture -7ft x 1.5ft -$850 -Pecan/Hickory -We got lucky here at Outer Woods’ headquarters. We are located in Austin Texas, and Pecan Trees grow like weeds here. In the Northern United States, Pecan Trees are few and far between. All this to say, Outer Woods has access to extremely high quality pecan slabs for relatively less money than folks north of here. We take advantage of this durable and beautiful opportunity.

-River to Ocean Table -6ft x 3ft -$1600 -Walnut -One of the most interesting pieces we’ve done to date, this table cannot be replicated. An avid fly fisherman wanted to capture a river flowing into an ocean and the fishing experiences he’s had all along the way. The river starts out shallow and rocky, then gradually turns to a deep blue with a sandy bottom as it opens to an ocean. Fly fishing lures are specifically placed along the waterway to show which types of fish would be caught at that real life location. You should have seen the smile on his face upon delivery.

-Live Oak End Table -2ft x 2ft -$700 -Live Oak -Live Oak is another tree that sees some harsh conditions in its lifetime and has the character to prove it. Every square inch of this table top has a story to tell, and it tells it with spalting wood, blended patterns, splotches of color. We helped that slab speak its story with a few pools of royal blue resin because we feel that imperfections should be celebrated, not hidden.

-Floating TV Stand -7ft x 1.5ft -$800 -Douglas Fir -Designed to fit any TV dimensions, designed to accommodate any decor, and most importantly designed to hold as many house plants as you’d like. We don’t know who needs to hear this, but upgrade your damn TV stand.

-Folding Balcony Table -2ft x 1.5ft -$250 -Pine -Enjoy your dinner, your drinks, your charcuterie board with a view. This table attaches to any metal balcony, and usually rests in a folded position tucked away, conserving space. Ready for use, the table can fold up and lock into place giving you the perfect surface to enjoy your meal and look over your domain.
