But there’s more than meets the eye. This table top is actually 2 leaves that pull apart and reveal the other half. A beautiful walnut gaming arena lies underneath. Lined with a deep blue fabric, this gaming table is remarkably functional for board games, puzzles, poker, dominoes, cards. Outer Woods with this table demonstrates how functionality and beauty are not at all mutually exclusive.
-Reclaimed Cedar Gaming Table -7ft x 4ft -$1500 -Reclaimed Cedar -This cedar gaming table is no ordinary gaming table. Yes it has the functionality to be both a dining table and an arena to play games, puzzles, poker, etc., but this wood has some magic to it. This wood is tongue and groove cedar that was reclaimed from the walls of an old house. And I mean very old. This cedar was put up on the walls in the early 1900’s, meaning that the wood was milled over 100 years ago, meaning that the tree was thriving in the 1800’s. That’s old growth. We were thrilled to memorialize this tree in a table that will last generations to come.
-Mesquite Gaming Table -8ft x 4ft -$7000 -Mesquite and Walnut -As you might have read on another Outer Woods piece description, Mesquite trees don’t usually grow to be very tall. They live in arid and harsh environments, so they are squatty, crooked, and knotted. To find 2 bookmatched slabs that were 110 inches tall was remarkable. To join them with deep black resin and turn it into a removable table top for a massive gaming table, quite difficult. At Outer Woods, difficult means growth, growth means fulfillment.
